The dragon year is finally here. Papa Bear and Mama Bear, Sister Bear worked so hard to make this Paper Shadow Puppet Show a big hit. Kids loved it. After knowing the historical background about Shadow Puppet, they cut it and colored it with their favorite colors. At last, "Norah's Ark" with the familiar song, kids played with the master pieces of their paper shadow Puppets. It was fun.

In the "tug of war", Little Bear used all her strength to pull the rope. She was strong.

如果有人說世界上最神經質的角色為何，媽媽熊一定要說：媽媽. 話說今天早上送小熊和弟弟出門非常緊張。因為原本出門時間就是挺趕的，加上小熊今天有小考生字，昨晚數學功課沒做完，一吃完飯就拉著小熊趕快做. 眼看校車快來了，小熊套上白運動鞋卻鞋帶打結，塞不進去。媽媽熊問小熊要不要換一雙，她說不要, 因為..... 後面聽不清楚, 車子來了，她又不想換，媽媽熊就說, 算了！穿著吧！想像一下，腳沒塞進鞋子，一隻鞋帶又打結，另一隻又鞋帶拖在地上，小熊拖著鞋子趕校車的模樣。校車一走，媽媽熊愈想愈不對。怎麼鞋沒穿好就讓她走了呢？等一下跌倒怎麼辦，如果大家都下車, 她還在搞她的鞋子，穿不下去，怎麼辦? 心裡放心不下，最後決定乾脆拿另一雙給她換。於是抓起鞋子就去學校等她的校車. 沒想到，車子一到，看到小熊鞋子穿得好好的下走來. 媽媽熊趕緊問，誰幫妳穿上的？小熊說是她自己. 她有足夠的時間解開鞋帶, 套好,綁好鞋帶。這下媽媽熊總可以安心了吧？沒！想想還是給她換另一雙吧！她說： may be. 既然如此, 就換上另一雙. 換好鞋, 看她走路才發現，那雙鞋的魔鬼膠鬆了，沒走幾步路，小熊就停下來把它貼好. 媽媽熊心裡還是不放心，最後決定拿原來的鞋去教室給她，如果實在不方便就換回來。小熊看見媽媽熊提著鞋子去教室有些不解的表情，但還是給媽媽熊一個大大地擁抱。至此, "鞋子事件"告一段落.
媽媽熊應該相信小熊的，小熊不選那雙有魔鬼膠的鞋子是因為它鬆了，相信她可以有能力來解決問題當媽媽的總認為自己想的週到，平白死了一堆細胞。也許有人要問：這神經直的症狀得以改善嗎？媽媽熊想, 這是沒得醫的，也永遠好不了，因為孩子是父母ㄧ生甜蜜的牽掛。

Little Bear's first recital is around the corner. She is going to play 3 pieces. One of them is the solo piece, "Silent night." There is still room to improve; Little Bear really enjoys playing the piece. She even went to check the Bible regarding Jesus' born. May God give her wisdom to play the piece nicely.

On every Sunday, Little Bear was always very excited to receive the bread and the cup in the meeting.
She has been boldly praying in the meeting.(Most of the children and young people are too shy to pray in the meeting.) 　 Everyone was encouraged by her prayers. It was quite different today. She prayed not only once but twice. Her voice was so small that people cannot hear it if they did not pay attention. In the middle of her prayer, she started sobbing. ( Later on she shared with us that she cried because Jesus died on the cross for her.) Praise the LORD!!! Her mind is simple enough to receive GOD's love and simple enough to be willing to share with people.
Not many people heard what she prayed about; however, she was deeply moved by God's love. Mama Bear who sat right next to Little Bear was amazed. How could GOD touch a little girl's heart so deeply! How marvelous HE is! May GOD guard Little Bear's heart. So she would keep the simple love forever.

One Wednesday afternoon, Little Bear joined the choir practice. The practice finished at 4:00 PM. Mama Bear was late that day. While driving to the school to pick her up, the cell phone rang. " Come to get me. Where are you?" It was Little Bear. "Sorry, I am late. I am on the way." " Thank you, mama. I love you." When Mama Bear got there, there were Little Bear and her music teacher sat on the bench. Mama Bear realized that the music teacher asked Little Bear about Mama Bear's phone number. She told her teacher the correct cell phone number not the home phone number. We all felt relief that she was able to remember the cell phone number. If she didn't tell her teacher the right number, there was no one would know Little Bear's number. ( The office was closed.)
In daily life, there are fulled of opportunities of learning. This is a great example.

life lesson

We went to Costco this afternoon. At the end of of our shopping, there was a child who was panic and ran around searching for his mom. Mama Bear thought it was a great opporunity for Little Bear to learn a life lesson. On the way honme, Mama Bear started asking Little Bear some questions. For example, what Little Bear would do if she gets lost in a mall or any other place. Little Bear answered," I will be polite." What? Be polite? Obviously she didn't get the question or she didn't know how to react. Therefore, Mama Bear came home and made a little social story book. Nothing fancy. Just hope that she knows how to react when she gets lost. Baby Bear added the last page. Here we go!

10th birthday party

After all these years, Little Bear finally turned to her first double digits. What a blessing! When Little Bear was born, 10 days were a long time. Not to mention about 10 months. None of us would think about 10 years. Why? Little Bear's days were always busy. In the first 10 days, she learned to drink milk without falling asleep. When she turned 10-month-old, she was busy to learn how to stand by herself, to eat solid food,and fight with eye patches. Now, she learns to do addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. She learns how to express herself and get along with others. She was so happy that her friends from her school and church all came together. They had so much fun together. Thank God for taking care of Little Bear. We are looking fowarding seeing her to grow taller and wiser.

Speaking of Chinese, Little Bear is always very proud of speaking Chinese. She likes to pray in Chinese. She likes to mimic other people speak Chinese. However, her Chinese vocabulary is limited. Here are some examples.

"It's a perfect day" said Little Bear in the Sunday afternoon. Mama Bear asked her why it is a perfect day. "I was baptized." It's like her dream came true. She had been waiting for a long, long time. There were many crying moments when she saw others partaked the bread and drank the cup on Sunday. Once she had a teary comment. "God didn't listen to me." She thought if she prayed and there would be a baptism service for her at once. Indeed, there was no baptism service in these months. We all need to comfort her and encouraged her to keep on praying and God will listen. Finally God answered her prayer.

Region Fair night

Little Bear and her 4th grader classmates sangf 4 songs and showed her state fair board with others. Her state is Washington. She did a whole pack of research about Washington. Unfortunately the buzzer didn't work. However, we still had fun to watch Little Bear's persformance.

Last night, Little Bear had an appoinmetn with Auntie Amy regarding getting baptized on the coming Sunday. We all know Little Bear loves God. She likes to pray in the prayer meetings and on Sunday meetings. It is very rare to see people like her who would ask if we go back to Church after we just get back from church. On Monday, she would ask when is the day for Tuesday prayer meeting. After the prayer meeting, she would ask when we would have Friday Bible study. Is it Friday? Auntie Amy used soy sauce (Jesus) and water (Little Bear) to demonstrate Jesus' blood cover her. God's spirit is in her. When soy sauce and water mixed up together, no one can see the water anymore. She understood. Although Little Bear was not able to clearly express the concepts in words, she thought Little Bear has the spirit in her heart. After talking to Auntie Amy, we all felt more comfortable to let Little Bear get baptized. She was so happy and told everyone she knows that she will get baptized on this Sunday. May God give her enough wisdom to know HIM and follow HIM.

Little Bear had her 1st person cnetered plan yesterday. The meeting went very well. The facilitator was awesome. She guided each of us included Little Bear to know her strengths. Leading us to think about what works and what didn't work with Little Bear. We even thought about Little Bear's future. We cannot wait to see the plan. Learning multiplication is not easy. Little Bear has no problem on x2, x5, x10. She recently works on x3 ( almost done), x4, 6,x7,x8, and x9 (half way). Oh! Boy! It is hard! However, she is interested in counting the numbers and finding the product. Hopefully, Little Bear will be able to master the multiplication as soon as possible.

Little Bear made a big mistake by throwing batteries into the trash can at school. She didn't tell her teacher and aide. After 1 hr, she finally said where it was. Mama Bear was furious. Mama Bear asked her why she threw them away. She said it didn't work. Why didn't she tell the truth at the first place? Mama Bear and Little Bear did have a long talk. We all hope Little Bear will think about the consequesnce before she does anything. May God gives her wisdom.

Little Bear went to Costco with Papa Bear. When Papa Bear showed his Costco card, Little Bear turned to the guy who checked at people's cards. "Buying Stuff." She was loud and clear to tell the guy in.....Chinese. Oh! Dear. That guy was very puzzled. Of course, he cannot understand Chinese. Papa Bear had to explain to Little Bear that the person didn't understand what she was saying. It was quite funny. In her little head, she might mix up these two languages. However, we were all glad that Little Bear's Chinese was improved a lot.
小熊和爸爸熊上Costco. 就爸爸熊亮出卡片時，小熊向著門口工作人員說：買東西！啥？？？小熊字正腔圓用中文講，可以想見那人一頭霧水，爸爸熊得好好解釋，跟中國人說中文，跟非中國人說英文，想必小熊腦袋以打結好幾次，不過，唯一可以欣慰的是，她的中文真的進步了。

It was a great vacation. Little Bear and bear family stayed in a beach house for 3 days. She spent quite a lot of time to play the sand with Baby bear. They played for hours at the beach and never complained boring. How wonderful it would be if all the learnings could be just like that!

從熊外婆得知媽媽熊要回台灣開始,她就每天就在想要讓媽媽熊睡哪裡,怎麼睡,下飛機那天，媽媽熊才一進們,熊外婆就指揮若定,安排媽媽熊睡的地方,謝謝熊外婆精心的安排,真是睡的很舒服,熊外婆四點就起來,她當然有他自己一連串要做的事,像是刷牙,吃藥啦,媽媽熊一回來又多了樣,幫媽媽熊蓋被子,連幫傭的太太也進來幫忙蓋被子,真不習慣.向來是媽媽熊幫熊熊們蓋被子的,媽媽熊好像一下子又變回熊外婆小女兒的角色.這讓媽媽熊突然想起自己也曾經當過人家女兒這回事.最有趣的是,媽媽熊想去樓下洗頭,熊外婆就開始擔心,她要熊媽媽熊別去太遠的地方,怕遇見壞人,怕路不熟走不回來.....聽起來好像是前一陣子媽媽熊姊姊熊講的話,原來天下的媽媽都是一樣的.早上要起床,熊外婆和傭人說:多睡會兒,一起床早餐就早已準備好,只要張嘴就行啦!媽媽熊, 好好享受一下這十幾天當大小姐的日子!

這幾天小熊都一直說她牙齒痛，，沒錯，她右下方的牙齒整準備掉下來，經過兩天的搖動，週日早上上完兒童主日學，小熊開心拿出一張折得好好的衛生紙，她小心翼翼的攤開來，是一顆雪白的小牙齒，她一面張嘴，喔！果真掉了。誰拔的？"I did it by myself." 有沒有流血？ "沒有" 小熊露出驕傲且無齒的笑容。她說明天就帶去給老師看看這顆牙。還記得小熊第一次掉牙還是去醫生那兒拔的，因為她曾心臟手術過，醫生還大陣仗的給抗生素，再拔牙。想想現在，居然自己拔牙了！

吃學校熱午餐

這幾天因為媽媽熊熊體欠安，沒力氣給熊熊們帶中飯，就給大家吃學校午餐。小熊可樂了。回家一問，中午吃了什麼啦？ Pizza. 不會吧？怎麼可能那麼剛好，我們又不常在學校吃中飯，怎麼每次都是Pizza. 下次媽媽熊準備小熊吃中飯的時間微服出巡，看看是不是又吃了Pizza 了。老師今天發了一張小講稿，要小熊準備一下，下週到二年級教室去向二級的小朋友分享三年級最好玩的三件事。小熊對演講這種是已經身經百戰，沒在怕，媽媽熊的心臟也逐年增強，希望這次的分享小熊能有機會再多學習。

千金之吻 priceless kiss

媽媽熊開車載小熊上CanDO 去做評量，一路5 1/2 小時的車程，除了小熊前40 分鐘人體點唱機（小熊把她所有會的詩歌拿來唱一遍）以外，她還仔細在姊姊的 IPOD 上快速的找到 "真善美","屋上的提琴手","奇妙的笛子"等電影原聲帶，一遍又一遍的聽，一遍又一遍的跟著唱，唱到媽媽熊的耳朵近乎長繭的地步，才罷休。早晨，媽媽熊就被一個濕濕黏黏的Kiss 弄醒，睜眼一看，小熊說： "Good morning, Mommy!" 小熊圓圓的臉湊得很近，實在可愛，不過，寶貝可知現在幾點嗎？才六點半哪！小熊又給趕回去睡覺。媽媽熊想想小熊這一吻很可能是模仿我們的。爸爸熊，媽媽熊喜歡在熊熊們睡前給他們一個深情的吻，小熊果真"好學." CanDO 老師看小熊進步的情形給了些有趣的功課。比方說，在小肌肉協調方面，小熊綁鞋帶，扣釦子，拉拉鍊，開罐子這些日常活動都做的很好了，所以，老師要小熊學打毛線。"打毛線？！！" 這簡直是擎天霹靂，媽媽熊自從國中家事課作品由熊外婆"代勞"後，就很少摸這玩意兒，這下可好，為著小熊，我們還得重新來學打毛線。學科方面，老師要小熊繼續把2位，3 位加減法練熟，還有乘除，也要在暑假好好集訓。真是忙啊！有一件事老師積極要我們幫小熊找找有無Bone conduction 的助聽器，因為小熊右耳的重聽會影響她左右腦的平衡思考和使用，這關乎她處理資訊的速度和能力。小熊實在很幸運，生在這個時代，人權至上，科技進步，她可以盡其所能發揮自己。如果她早生個四，五十年，現在可能還被關在養護機構，被當小動物來養。既是如此，就繼續努力了囉！希望四個月後，小熊可以打條圍巾什麼的，那就太好了！

小熊老師邀請小熊參加學區科學展覽，實在榮幸。這種事大概只有在美國才會發生。媽媽熊心想，做的比小熊好的不知有多少，老師這麼有心讓小熊去參加（全校各年級只有一位），讓小熊有機會對人說明自己的作品，參與這盛事，不僅大家為她開心，她聽到別人的讚美，心裡也樂陶陶。媽媽熊再三叮嚀，要有禮貌，針對問題回答，別亂答。瞧！小熊正經八百，十分謹慎，一步都沒敢離開她的展覽板，這真是個難忘的經驗。
Little Bear was honored to participate in the Science Expo. There must be many projects which were better than hers, but Little Bear's teacher wanted her to have the opportunity to speak to others about her project. Mama Bear believed it only happened in USA. We were all happy for her. She was proud of herself too. Mama Bear kept reminding Little Bear that she had to be polite and hit the point when she answered the questions. Look! She was very serious. What an unforgettable experience!

老師要小熊把她做的科學展覽報告拿去學區科展，老師說：小熊做得很認真，主題又是她喜歡的壁球，老師希望讓小熊有機會和別人交流她是怎樣做這科展報告。小熊一口答應，媽媽熊開始緊張，不斷提醒小熊不要離題，人家若問這問題時，妳就這樣答，人家若問那問題，妳就那樣答。說真的，媽媽熊也不知道人家會問啥問題，小熊還不知緊張為何物，只希望她講的，別讓人不知所云才好。
Little Bear's teacher wanted her to participate the Science Expo. Since Little Bear loves to play th wall ball. Her question was to know what kind of balls would bounce higher than the others. Mama Bear started getting nervous. Little Bear need to be reminded not to go off topics. Mama doesn't know what questions people will ask her, but just want to make sure people understand her.

為了讓小熊能快快算出答案，加法進位，減法是否要借10等等，小熊常搞得糊里糊塗。最近總算比較好一些，小熊開始會先自己喃喃自語：加法就可能進位，減法時，上面數字不夠大時就要去隔壁借10。有時覺得算這些真是對小熊一大挑戰，但是，學生嘛，就是好好學當學得，不怕慢只怕站。更何況，這是每天都會用到的呀，現在不學何時學呢？

Meeting Karen Gaffney

When Mama Bear did her one on one assignment for Partner in Policymaking (http://www.partnersinpolicymaking.com/testimonials/or.html)by interviewing the executive director of Incight, he introduced Mama Bear to meet Karen Gaffney ( http://www.karengaffneyfoundation.com/) whose office just happened to be the next door. It was totally a surprise. Mama Bear has never officially met Karen before. She is a nice, sweet, and elegant young lady. She was busy typing when Mama Bear came into her office. We ended up having a wonderful conversation. Karen is a great model for people with disabilities. She swam through English Channel and Lake Tahoe. This great achievement inspires many people.
She heard Little Bear loves swimming. Mama 熊參加第三回合的Parter in Policymaking(http://www.partnersinpolicymaking.com/)訓練，本次的訓練重點在於學習使用Person Centered Plan （PCP）的工具來為孩子作一個 Person Centered Plan. 講員花了幾乎一天的時間從環境設計調整，為孩子的學習，生活，社交，工作（為高中以上的年青人）作設計，規劃。這個 PCP 以前就聽過，覺得跟還唸小學的小熊沒多大關係，這次研習之後，發現，真後悔沒早一點知道，早點為小熊設計，那麼她的學校的學習，在各方面的學習肯定有更正面的影響。以下這個網頁，就是基本的例子。從最簡單的設計一張有關孩子的小履歷開始，講員要父母好好想想，影視記者怎麼介紹偶像明星。
幾歲，喜歡什麼，興趣什麼，等等，接下來是幾個一定有的項目：
1)孩子的優點，強項，能力（記得：只寫好的）特別是小的孩子，別以為沒啥好寫，每一項孩子會的事物，別客氣，好好寫下至少五樣孩子所具備的能力，比方說，孩子會玩球，那麼這孩子一定具備手眼協調的能力，大小肌肉，肢體的協調性，還有什麼？好好用力想，一一寫下來
2)什麼對這孩子行得通，什麼對孩子行不通
有人只要有小貼紙，一切好說; 有人非得用有圖片提示不可
有人你千萬不要讓他用紅色，或有些特別不喜歡的玩偶，千萬別自找麻煩，因為，他鐵定發飆。
當然，只有父母最瞭解，若是加上老師的觀察和建議那就更完美了。
http://www.elpnet.net /sample_plans.htm 這網頁裡有許多例子，運用充分的創造力，想像力，為孩子設計一張小履歷。有人問，這小履歷要用在何時？講員說：特殊的孩子從醫生那裡的到診斷之後，父母所聽到的絕大多數都是，這孩子哪裡出了問題，哪裡不行，父母也慢慢被洗腦，看到這孩子總想到需要什麼治療，還要加強什麼，往往忽略掉這人的正面特質，他的優點強項，常常被忽視，這小履歷不僅給父母一個機會，重新看看這個被說成有特出需要的孩子，到底有多特殊（正面的）這小履歷可以用在年級轉換，到一個新的班級，讓同學認識他，老師瞭解他，甚至在開個別教學計畫會議都會帶來意想不到的正面影響力。這小履歷可以給保母看，代課老師看，甚至，準備交的新朋友，鄰居等等，只要能讓旁人多認識這孩子的機會，這小履歷就可派上用場。特別是大孩子尋找工作時，這小履歷就非常重要。想想有這麼多好處，為何不現在就做？
3) 夢想：人人都應有夢，這孩子的夢想是什麼？先不要想可不可能，寫了再說。誰知道，孩子的夢想會帶他到何處？但是，旁人若知道這孩子的夢想，就可以幫他，支持他走出一條路來。
這PCP 的延伸，就是幫這孩子理出一個愛他，支持他的一個強有力的支持網。講員放一段影帶，一對老先生老太太坐在沙發上說：他倆老哪都去不了，因為他們有個嚴重特殊的孩子，哪也去不了，孩子一天天的長大，卻一天天的封閉起來。PCP 的設計，把真正關心這孩子的親戚朋友鄰居都圈起來，組織起來，成為一個愛的支持網。讓這孩子有機會和更多不同的人相處，孩子學得許多寶貴功課，兩老也有機會出去走走。
哇！多棒的一個作法，不知有多少父母想陪孩子走到人生的末了，但真正有多少人能有幸作到，孩子能愈早具備能力，愈早為旁人接受（看到他的優點）孩子才有機會真正擁有他自己的人生，兒孫自有兒孫福，他也得學習好自為之。
除了馬上可上手使用的工具外，這訓練還講到為特殊孩子設立基金，這事曾經在腦裡轉過，卻從未真正動手去行，希望今年夏天，能有些進展。
這訓練太豐富，很難把字字記下，但是，感謝神！讓媽媽熊能學習這麼寶貴的功課來幫助小熊，或有機會幫助其他有需要的人。

模仿貓- 咳嗽好玩嗎？

昨天星期五，小熊穿著她最喜歡的紅色運動衣外加長袖圓領衫跟外套去學校，媽媽熊提醒小熊務必穿著長袖因為天氣冷。下午一進門，媽媽熊差點沒昏倒，小熊脫到只剩短袖的紅色運動衣回來，她實在太喜歡那件。有沒搞錯啊？外面還有風呢！小熊被媽媽熊念得心情很不好，只得心不甘情不願的穿上長袖，就在這個時候，小熊突然大叫，妳看！出太陽了！媽媽熊還沒會意過來，出太陽就可穿短袖了！喔！原來如此，小熊只記得媽媽熊跟她說天熱出太陽才能穿短袖，但是，出多大的太陽才能穿短袖，她可沒想過。關於這個狀況，只有一個辦法可想，那就是買個室外溫度計，看看這樣是不是可以讓小熊比較了解什麼樣的氣候穿什麼樣的衣服。果然不出所料，今天下午小熊就開始打噴嚏，咳嗽。她哀怨的摀著嘴巴咳，媽媽熊雖然沒到幸災樂禍的階段，不過，倒想借這件事情好好給小熊洗腦，天冷就穿長袖吧！不曉得小熊領會多少，從她飯後沒多久就說累了，連最愛的Tom and Jerry也沒力氣看，果然是感冒了！好吧！還好有媽媽熊有治咳的妙方，要不然，要不然.....小熊妳就完蛋了！

Hot lunch money

Little Bear earned her hot lunch money this week. Since she has learned how to tell the coins and add them up, Mama Bear decided to give her a chance to practice. Her hot lunch money should be $2.35. Mama Bear put all the dollar bills and coins on the table. Little Bear had to find $2.35. She looked at the money and started to put the money in the envelop. In a few seconds, he did find 2 dollar bills, 3 dimes, and 5 pennies. Wow! "You go girl. Enjoy your hot lunch!"

飯後，媽媽熊要小熊喝一下水果茶（天然止咳妙方: 梨四顆，蘋果兩顆，金橘12 顆加冰糖加水熬成一大鍋，喝個兩三天見效）因為她有點咳嗽，小熊說：我不能喝，我怕尿床. .喲！還會怕尿床啊！經過媽媽熊在三保證，在我們睡覺前一定會叫醒她去尿個尿才肯喝。不知是小熊自律甚嚴還是以前尿床經歷太不好，導致小熊對尿床一事避之唯恐不及。也好，都九歲啦！尿床總不是件光彩的事，能夠有自知之明表示長大了。
After dinner, Mama Bear wanted Little Bear to drink some fruit tea for her coughing. ( Nature home remedy for coughing: 4 pears, 2 apple，12 round Kumquats, rock sugar, and about 2 liter of water. Boil all the ingredients and drink the fruit tea for 2-3 days. The cough will be miraculously reduced.) Little Bear refused to drink it. " I am not going to drink it. I will wet my bed." She was very serious. Mama Bear promised that we will wake her up to the bathroom before we go to bed, and she agreed to drink the fruit tea. Mama Bear was not sure if the bed wetting experience was not so good; therefore, Little Bear didn't like to wet her bed at all. Bed wetting is definitely not a cool thing for a 9-year-old big girl.

My best friend 我的好朋友

Little Bear wrote her journal after school. That was what she wrote. When Mama Bear went to her class to make copies, her teacher told Mama Bear that Little Bear spent time with her friend in recess. Really? This is a news. She played wall ball almost day. Mama Bear and Daddy Bear worried about if she only played by herself or played with boys only. Now, she changes. It is very nice to see that Little Bear has some one she likes to play with. Mama Bear is very curious about who this girl is. She must be very nice and patient. May this friendship lasts and grows.
P.S. Little Bear read to Mama Bear. "tiag" means "tag." The word "spce" means "speaks."
小熊下課後寫日記，這是小熊的寫的。今天媽媽熊到小熊教室幫忙，小熊老師說小熊沒打壁球了，老師覺得有點可惜，因為她不僅打的好，還懂得遊戲規則，十分投入，不打了有點可惜。這可是新聞，小熊天天打壁球，我們還擔心她只是自己玩，或只跟男生玩。老師說，小熊和她的好朋友一起玩遊戲，玩得很開心。小熊還指定要和好朋友穿一樣的運動褲。看到小熊有好朋友一起玩實在是件很棒的事。媽媽熊還真是有點好奇這是哪家的小女孩，想必是個又棒又有耐心的小孩子。希望這段友誼能繼續保持。

Little Bear played basketball with the neighborhood kids after school. There was a boy who was new to this area. He liked to play basketball too. Since Little Bear never saw him before, she asked the boy, "What's your name?".
The boy answered but he had a strong accent. ( He was from India.) Little Bear didn't quite get it. She asked again.
The boy answered again. Little Bear's face looked puzzles. (She probably had a hard time to understand the long India name.) After a couple seconds, Little Bear said, " OK! Let's play!" It seemed not bother her at all. They kept on shooting the basket and had a good time. It is very nice to see Little Bear makes one more friend in the neighborhood.

the great training in Partners In Policymaking

Mama Bear gladly participated in the training of Partners in policymaking in Salem, Oregon, 2/12-2/13. This is http://www.partnersinpolicymaking.com. Mama Bear got to have a chance to leave all the bears and stayed in Salem with other participants to receive an intensive training for 1 1/2 days. Our first speaker was Kathie Snow. Her great presentation was eye opening. She is the author of " Disability is Natural."http://www.disabilityisnatural.com/ It is a great book to give people a positive attitude to people with disabilities. The training is no picnic. We have to finish a lot of readings before and after the training. There are 4 assignments need to be completed. One of the assignment is to make an one on one interview with a leader or director of a non profit organization. Mama Bear made an appointment with a director. Hopefully the interview will turn out great tomorrow.

小熊喜歡一件黃襯衫，喜歡的程度到令人匪夷所思的地步。她可一直穿直到旁邊的人抓狂為止，今天，媽媽熊決定要把黃襯衫藏起來，沒想到，小熊東翻西找，竟給她找到, 真是服了她。有一次，媽媽熊規定他不可以穿那件黃襯衫去上學，小熊很難過，勉強穿了一件長袖襯衫。都要出門了，小熊說，我去拿個東西，連包包也帶上去。一去五分鐘，媽媽熊很好奇，一看，媽媽熊發現，小熊書包裡多了個鞋盒。這怪了, 沒事怎麼有鞋盒在這裡。打開一看，她最喜歡的黃襯衫放在鞋盒裡。媽媽熊看小熊一眼，小熊有被抓到的尷尬。這小妞可心思不少，當然，這襯衫被馬上丟就洗衣機，至少被打冷宮一星期。真不明白，這襯衫有什麼魅力。
Little Bear has a favorite yellow shirt. She likes the shirt to a point that no one can comprend. She will keep wearing it until Ma Ma Bear stopped her. Today Ma Ma Bear decided to hide the shirt. Little Bear was a little dective. She searched everywhere. She found it. One day, Ma Ma Bear didn't allow Little Bear to wear the yellow shirt. It was about time to go to the bus stop. She said she need to go upstairs. After five minutes, she was still in upstairs. Mama Bear went to her room and checked on her. The funny thing was there was a shoe box in her backpack. Guess what's in the shoe box? Her favorite yellow shirt. Little Bear was quite embrassed. In her little head, there was something more than others expected. Of course, this shirt was put into the washer and would be put to aside at least for 1 week. One one understands why she likes the yellow shirt that much. One thing for sure is she won't see the shirt until the weather gets warmer.

新的游泳教練New Swimming coach

小熊等待已久的游泳課終於開始了，因為時間的關係，教練不再是 David，小熊有點失望，不過新教練Todd 一來，就告訴小熊，David 是他的朋友，他知道小熊和David 學了好一陣子. 媽媽熊特別交待 Todd, 小熊有一耳聽不見，在泳池裡得大聲才聽得到，還有，對小熊需要 firm, 這小傢伙很會看眼色，太nice 的教練會給小熊吃夠夠。特別是，小熊知道，一不乖就上岸。有了這番課前教戰守則，小熊非常認真，教練怎麼說她就怎麼做。希望她記續保持，把游泳學好。
The swimming classes finally started. Since the schedule was changed, Little Bear's coach would not be David anymore. Little Bear was little disappointed. However, the new coach was cool too. He told Little Bear that he is David's friend. He knew that Little Bear had learned swimming with David for quite a long time.Mama Bear told the coach that he has to speak louder because she has a hearing loss in her right year. Also, the coach has to be firm, or she may be too excited to follow directions. She also knew she had to get out the pool if she didn't follow the coach's commands. With this introduction, Little Bear worked very hared in the pool. Hopefully, she would continue working hard and improving her swimming skills.

話說，前幾天，媽媽熊和小熊老師們開會，心理老師突然提議要小熊去ALC 上數學課一事，接著幾天，實在不好受。特別是在眾人都以為是美事的狀況下，實叫讓人為難。媽媽熊不斷禱告，教會的弟兄姊妹也為小熊的學習禱告，媽媽熊就用「王的心在耶和華手中，好像龍溝的水，隨意流轉。」（箴21:1）做為禱告，希望神伸手做事。為著不辜負大家的 "美意", 媽媽熊寫了封電子郵件給了負責的語言老師。希望在做任何決定之前，讓媽媽熊去看看那教室的情形。郵件一發出去的隔天，語言老師就回信，因為要安排參觀的時間，她去和 ALC 老師談，也和學區內專管特教事務的一位女士提這件事，那女士一聽大驚。她說：你們不可以這樣做，這是完全不合法的。因為，這種決定一定要在IEP　會議裡一致決議寫進ＩＥＰ裡才能執行，特別是ALC 的老師表示她的教室沒有名額。媽媽熊一看到這信，不得不開口讚美主。神一伸手，事情就轉變。語言老師又寫一封信表達歉意，她說：她實在搞不懂為什麼心理老師提出這樣的的建議，也很抱歉引起這些不必要得焦慮，她還說要請資源班的老師幫班級老師做課程的調整，好讓小熊學得更順利。媽媽熊回應說：謝謝她寫了這封信，因為媽媽熊心上的石頭可以暫時放下，既然說要去看看，還是會照原訂時間去。那天，媽媽熊準時到達，十二個孩子乖乖的坐著聽老師唸馬丁路德金恩博士的書，剛開始大家還挺專心，接下來二十分鐘，老師要停下來五至六次，制止不同的小朋友插嘴的，玩玩具的，亂走動的。接著，就是媽媽熊去觀察的重點，據心理老師的強力推薦，這時段是小熊可以學習實際操作學習實際操作學數學概念的好機會。老師先讓小朋友說今天是星期幾，幾月，幾日，今天的形狀排序是什麼，接著問，小朋友怎樣找19 分錢。完了之後，分成四組，寫加法練習卷。媽媽熊一看，小熊和同齡的小孩是差些，但程度遠遠在這些人之上。其實，這老師也很優秀，對孩子也很有耐心，但媽媽熊知道，這裡絕對不合適小熊。只能說，去看了之後，更加確定要小熊在原來的環境學習。「王的心在耶和華手中，好像龍溝的水，隨意流轉。媽媽熊知道，神愛小熊，藉這事，讓我們知道，祂才是掌全者。

如果你不懂中文英文，那你一定聽不懂鴨鴨主人的小熊在講啥，小熊放學後，吃完點心，她自動要求要做乘法練習（她最近覺得對乘法很有信心，x1, x2,x3,x4,x5, x10 都難不倒她），弟弟熊在旁邊練小提琴。弟弟熊練一練就跑過來看姊姊寫的怎麼樣，結果，小熊馬上發揮姊姊的本色： Keep on 拉！弟弟熊馬上也聽話，趕快跑回去練習。奇怪吼？這樣也可以溝通。

Please understand how I think first.熊爸爸今天回來檢查媽媽熊給鴨鴨主人- 小熊的作業。剛開始實在看不懂她在寫什麼，仔細一看，除了找到拼字文法錯誤之外，有個驚奇的發現。媽媽熊要鴨鴨主人寫與今天有關的"一些事"。鴨鴨主人把媽媽的交待直腸子的領會，寫了一篇以"一些事"為主詞的文章。難怪鴨鴨主人有時很固執，不知如何變通，就像 Amelia Bedelia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amelia_Bedelia( 兒童叢書主角：一個做事完全照字面行事的女僕）一樣。

When Daddy Bear came home and examined YaYa Master's- Little Bear's assignment. At first, it was hard to understand what she wrote. There were quite a few grammar mistakes and misspellings.After a minute, Daddy Bear had a big discovery. The instruction was to write "something" about today. YaYa Master took the instruction literally and wrote about "something." No wonder, sometimes, YaYa Master was so stubborn, since she thought straightforward as Amelia Bedelia .

最近一次和小熊的老師們開會，因為小熊學三年級的數學學得有些辛苦，兒童心理師建議讓小熊去特殊班和其他小孩一起學數學（想減低她的挫折感）並多一些與她一樣的孩子的互動（心理老師覺得她和其他孩子互動太少）。媽媽熊對於這樣的建議不太能苟同，雖說小熊數學能力是只有二年級，她也不像一般三年級的孩子語彙那麼豐富，和其他跟他一樣特殊孩子一起互動並非不好，但是，這樣的安排似乎有點一廂情願，特別是，為著安排一小時去特殊班比較輕鬆學數學，就不去資源教室和老師一對一或一對二的學數學，倒底是得還是失？這有點奇怪的安排讓人不禁想起前輩的提醒，別讓學校一步步安排孩子走進相反的方向。媽媽熊寫了一封信給前輩，實在有些落落長，但是媽媽熊心裡的擔憂，她還未回信，但是，媽媽熊心裡已經有底，為了悍衛小熊的學習權利，對這樣的決定，絕對會三思。

I just had an informal meeting with Little Bear's 3rd grade teacher, Speech therapist ( her case coordinator), resource room teacher, and school psychologist this afternoon. I felt so sad. I have to write to you.
The reason to have this meeting was Little Bear sometime has difficulty to understand the content. The classroom teacher said she tried her best to modify the curriculum, but some of the curriculum was not easily to be modified. For work on her level, she could be very independent and no conflict with the teacher and the aide. For harder assignment or content, Little Bear has an aide who will teach/ support her when others learn more challenging stuff. Or when she doesn't understand, the aide will explain to her. The problem is Little Bear didn't like people tell her to do this and to do that all the time. Even when the cucurriculum was modified to her level. She liked to do in her own way and doesn't want any help. When the aide steps in, Little Bear got upset. Therefore, there are moments that she didn't comply and refuse to follow the aide's direction even the assignment is her level. She even has some disrespectful behaviors toward the aide. Interestingly, the resource room teacher said Little Bear always very cooperative. The resource room teacher thought it may be the content is her level. I told Little Bear that she has to obey teachers and follow direction. Indeed, Math is a challenge to her. The school psychologist said the challenges caused the behaviors. Beside, Little Bear didn't get much interaction with her classmates because Little Bear didn't catch up the fast pace like her classmates. Her recommendation was instead of going to the resource room, giving Little Bear a trial session to let her go to the ALC ( Academic learning center) to learn math. She believed the slow pace and hands on learning style will help her reduce the frustration and behavioral issues.She also said, with Little Bear's sense of humor, she will have more social interaction with the students in ALC. ( What?) I was stunned to hear this suggestion. We have been working very hard to keep her in a regular setting. She has been growing and learning so much with her typical peers. In our meeting, I heard the teacher's frustration, and the school psychologist's observation of how unfit the environment to Little Bear. I didn't hear much about how to help Little Bear to fit in the classroom or ways to help her learns the contents .It seemed like a quick fix. Will it be an answer to help her to reduce the frustration, eliminate the behavioral problems? I don't know. Since Little Bear's IEP meeting will be held on February 19, Friday. They will evaluate Little Bear's progress in ALC and in her regular classroom. I don't think put her in ALC will solve all the problems. It reminded me of Little bear's kindergarten year. They suggested us to put her in a special kindergarten. I am glad that we didn't take the suggestion. Now, again, we are put in a spot of making a decision. Please tell me what you think. Bed time story

Little Bear has read Bible daily since last August. It was hard to keep up the schedule, but we tried our best. Tonight, we read Mark Chapter 1. She read one verse, and Mama Bear read one verse. It was very interesting to find out that there are 9 "immediately" in Mark Ch1 (NAS version). At first, Little Bear had a hard time to pronounce the word, but it was getting easier after 9 times of practice. Immediately means to quickly react to things. Hopefully, " immediately" will be one of Little Bear's goals for 2010.
從去年八月開始，小熊每天讀聖經。有時還真難保持進度，但是，我們總是盡可能每天讀，為著讓小熊養成每天讀經的習慣。今晚，我們一起讀到馬太第一章。媽媽熊讀一句，小熊讀一句。我們讀著讀著發現，真有趣，裡面竟然有9 次 "馬上". 起先，小熊舌頭都快轉不來，唸了9 次以後，就一點都不困難了。馬上意味著對事物的快速反應。希望，這是她 2010 年的學習目標之一。

a little prayer

Little Bear volunteered to say grace before the lunch today. This was what she said: Dear Lord, please give me a good day. I hope Sister Bear has a good day. ( She went skiing with friends.) I prayed for my mom that she will understand me when I do the math. Thank you. I love you. Pray in your precious name. Amen. It did strike Mama Bear. In the past year, there were some tension while Mama Bear taught Little Bear math. Mama Bear confessed there was time that Mama Bear felt that she was almost crazy. It was hard to Little Bear too. Just like her prayer. May God help Mama Bear have the patience and wisdom from above. HE also help Little Bear learn to do math in a more pleasant and relax way.

學加法

小熊在學校跟著同學希哩呼嚕的學，老讓學媽媽熊心裡不踏實，原因是小熊是需要許多反覆練習的。由於時間很緊，原先買的Saxon Math 都沒機會好好學，小熊已經提了好多次，要求媽媽熊教她Saxon Math(還真好學呢！）於是，媽媽熊決定在怎麼緊也要花時間，一課一課教小熊。這好處是，一課一課有教法和測驗，媽媽熊知道她是會了還是還不行。困難的部份是，媽媽熊要事先備課，要怎麼講，讓小熊能明瞭。這幾天，小熊學二年級的加法，像2+3, 3+4, 4+5, 小熊看一眼便知道答案，但是，6+7, 7+8, 8+9 等，以前都是用手指算，想想，都八歲啦！可不可以不要用手指，因為她會 1+1, 2+2, 3+3 等 doubles 的答案，書上說 6+7 這種題目叫, doubles +1, 只要知道6+6=12, 那麼，6+7＝6+6+1, 真奇妙！學了第三次，小熊一看題目便轉轉眼珠報出正確答案，真是令人興奮！小熊加油，不怕慢，只怕站。希望能一步一步掌握加法的要訣。
